Traffic crashes being a leading cause of death and serious injuries for teenagers? What can we do? How about challenging teen drivers to be more informed efficient, and safe?

CCSO and the Florida Sheriffs Association are teaming up for the free Charlotte County Teen Driver Challenge. It’s a 12-hour course over two days with time in the classroom and behind the wheel. There’s an entire section on defensive driving which includes knowing the vehicle your driving, driving while tired, impaired and or distracted. The course runs Friday July 24th from 6:00 to 10:00p.m., and Saturday July 25th from 7:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. You can find more information about the course and the necessary forms on the Sheriff’s Office’s website at www.ccso.org/TeenDriverChallenge.
