The credit card information of a Sarasota man was used several times in June in Charlotte County and detectives are trying to identify the suspect.

In late June, the victim reported to the Sheriff’s Office that while he had been on vacation, someone used his personal information encoded on two different credit cards to withdraw a total of $3,200 from ATMs at Charlotte County locations. The victim still had possession of his credit cards during this time.

Detectives with the Economic Crimes Unit found that the victim’s credit cards were used six different times on June 19. Four of the transactions took place at the ATM at Bank of America in Charlotte Commons at 24051 Veterans Blvd in Port Charlotte. The other two transactions occurred at the ATM at Bank of America at 100 Madrid Blvd. in Punta Gorda.

At this time, detectives know of no connection between a Charlotte County victim and this Sarasota County victim, both of whom had their information used in June at the same Charlotte County locations.

The attached photographs show an unknown suspect using the victim’s credit card information at an ATM to make an unauthorized withdrawal. Anyone with information on the identity of the person in the photo is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit at (941) 833-1891 during normal business hours, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
