CCSO’s planning the first of two free eight-hour Boater Safety Courses. CCSO Special Operations Commander Lt. Brian Harrison says state law requires anyone born after Dec. 31, 1987 to take an eight-hour boating safety course and pass a test to legally operate a boat in Florida. Those who pass will each receive a Safe Boating ID card from Tallahassee that must be carried while operating a boat in Florida waters. The class will be held on a Saturday at the Training Center in Punta Gorda once 25 people are registered. If you want to sign up for the class, call Denise LeBlanc at 941-575-5228.
