Three CCSO deputies are on administrative leave while the department investigates an incident in which a shot was allegedly fired in Port Charlotte.

A department spokesperson says a little before 11a.m. yesterday, a call came in from a relative that a man who lives near West Tarpon Boulevard and Edgewater Drive was threatening to harm himself. Three deputies responded to the call. They tried, but could not contact the man inside, so they entered the home, identifying themselves as they did so. While searching the home, a shot was fired. The deputies were able to secure the individual with no injuries. Major Crimes detectives were called in because of the shot being fired to investigate.
