CCSO’s running another Civilian Gun Safety Course next month. It’s scheduled for Saturday April 5th from 8a.m. to 5p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Training Building in Punta Gorda. The course will explain the laws on firearms and how to safely handle your handgun. The course includes both classroom work and practical gun range experience. Completion of this gun safety course qualifies as meeting one of the requirements for obtaining a concealed weapons permit. You can sign up at the CCSO website. It’s $35/person payable by check or money order. You’ll need to bring your firearm and 50-rounds of ammo.
