Three people from the state’s east coast were arrested yesterday after allegedly using or trying to use counterfeit cash at locations in Port Charlotte and Englewood. CCSO deputies were alerted by an employee at My Mechanic in Englewood, who reported someone tried to used fake $10 and $20 bills to buy tires. When told the cash was fake, they paid up. Deputies caught up with 25-year old Byron Harris in a traffic stop, and found out he was driving on a suspended license. They arrested him for that, and at the same time a Subway employee told deputies two women riding in the same car tried to use phony bills. Both women were arrested along with Harris on counterfeit currency charges.
