(PORT CHARLOTTE) Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Port Charlotte man for breaking into a business, stealing $2,040 in frozen steaks and $394 in cash. Arrested was an employee, Jeffery Scott Kiley, 39, 4209 Yucatan Circle.

CCSO received a call Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. regarding a burglary and theft at MV Auction, 19440 Peachland Blvd., Port Charlotte. The owner told deputies someone entered the business, stole money from a cash box, and 68 cases of Colorado brand steaks from a freezer. The owner told deputies one of his employees, Kiley, had not shown up for work or called in sick. He said he has not been able to contact Kiley. Deputies went to Kiley’s home and talked to his wife. She said her husband was not there. She said he was upset, something was wrong, and she suspected he may be using drugs again.

The deputy finally got a call from Kiley who agreed to meet at the District Office in Port Charlotte. After questioning Kiley, he was arrested and charged with Burglary, Grand Theft and Dealing in Stolen Property. He was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains on $30,000 bond. Kiley is a twice convicted felon with nine bookings.
