A Cape Coral man wants an ordinace passed by the city council that would ban people from school sports and city events if they refuse to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Several pro athletes have refused standing while the anthem is being played before games, stating they’re trying to raise awareness into injustices against minorities.
Sean Dever says those who don’t stand during the anthem at an event on public property should be banned from taking part.
He told the city council, “If people wish to use a citizen-supported facilities, they should support and respect the country in which they live.
