The story of a man accidentally killing his son at a Sarasota gun range continues making national headlines.
It happened Sunday at High Noon Guns on Bee Ridge Road.
The sheriff’s office says 64-year-old Clayton Brumby fired his gun while trying to dig a hot shell casing out of the back of his shirt.
The round hit the ceiling and hit his 14-year-old son Stephen.
The investigation continues, but the sheriff’s office has not charged Brumby.
The family has established a GoFundMe page to pay for funeral expenses. It has already shattered its goal of $10,000.
Brumby simply tells CNN that the gun didn’t kill his son. He did, saying he made a mistake.
