Investigators say two boys were playing with the .22 caliber gun when the 14 year-old showed it to the 12-year-old and the gun went off accidentally. The 12-year-old was shot in the leg. Venice police and firefighters responded to the scene of the accident in the 1000 block of Myrtle Avenue around 11 a.m. Monday morning. The injured boy was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. His injury is not considered life threatening. Investigators say the shooting appears to be an accident. So far, no charges have been filed.
