Work on a Sarasota fire hydrant tomorrow means those who live nearlby will need to boil water for a few days afterward.

Sarasota County will shut down a water main in Gulfgate Estates from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. tomorrow. Tuesday, Jan. 24. A fire hydrant will be replaced at 3140 Pairie Lane and two valves will be repaired. Homes on Goodwater Street, Blue Water Avenue, Bowline Drive, Prairie Lane and Markridge Road are affected — about 100 in total. While the county has no reason to believe drinking water will be contaminated, Florida law requires drinking water providers to issue precautionary boil water advisories to customers affected by pressure losses in water mains.
