It started when a Sarasota County deputy stopped a bicyclist for riding at night without a headlight. Then the rider produced an I-D that wasn’t his. That led to an investigation that authorities say links the bike rider to a number of breakins and thefts in the area. In fact, deputies say 29-year-old David Skolnik had broken into two cars and a truck just minutes before he was pulled over on Tuttle Avenue. Skolnik accused of having several wallets, I-Ds, and other stolen items in his possession.
