The construction of Winchester Boulevard South is ready to begin. Charlotte County posted its construction bid package for the project which would extend Winchester Boulevard from State Road 776 to Placida Road, south of Truman and Short streets and north of Buck Creek. The North Port Sun reports the project will cost almost $14.5-million. The new road will be a 4-lane divided highway with a raised median, there will also be sidewalks, water and sewer lines, and other utility work. A prebid conference for interested contractors is Aug. 7,and construction bids will be opened Aug. 28.
