Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota County’s won another planning award. The latest is the 2013 Excellence in Planning Project from the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA). The award will be presented in September at the annual state conference in Orlando in September. Benderson Park’s the site of a world-class rowing venue. During the September conference, several of the people who were involved with the planning and development of the park will be part of a panel discussion. The park began hosting organized regatta competitions in 2009 and is one of two sites under consideration for the 2017 World Rowing Championships.
