A bald eagle badly burned after being shocked by power lines is getting a second chance.
Phoenix has been at the Peace River Wildlife Center recovering since January. Officials there expected recovery would take three years, but the eagle was released today after just 7 months. ABC7 reports Phoenix flew out of its cage and immediately headed out toward the big pond south of Punta Gorda. Phoenix is not 100% but can fly well enough to be on his own and is better off recovering the rest of the way in the wild instead of in a small cage.
