The developers behind the Babcock Ranch community east of Punta Gorda have sent the state a proposal for a new municipal utility in Charlotte County. The Herald-Tribune reports they say the utility would give them more control, give customers lower electric bills and fit nicely with their plan for a 75-megawatt solar farm planned at the heart of Babcock Ranch. Thew plan is in the hands of Florida’s Public Service Commission. As to when construction will start? No date’s been set.
