Attorney General Pam Bondi says the former Florida sheriff’s deputy who was was arrested on charges of impersonating a federal drug agent could face more than 30 years in prison.

Former Seminole County Sheriff’s Deputy Don Wheeler and another man, Michael Maine, face charges of extortion, conspiracy to commit extortion, unlawful use of a two-way communication device and falsely impersonating an officer.

The investigation revealed that Wheeler impersonated a Drug Enforcement Administration agent in an effort stop Maine’s wife from proceeding with a divorce.
