Can a person be arrested for sending threatening text messages? In the case of one man from Port Charlotte, the answer is “yes”. Police in Punta Gorda say 28-year-old Thomas Locke sent a series of threatening and abusive text message to a 22-year-old woman who had earlier filed a complaint against him for battery. Officers arrested Locke and have now charged him with making threats to kill or do bodily harm. Officer say the threatening text messages, numbering at least eight, were sent in December.
