Charlotte County Sherriff’s Office
Daniel Lee Salazar, dob 10/5/2002, of Cape Coral, FL, pictured below, was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Delivery of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams.
Charlotte County Deputies were conducting an aggressive driving and speed monitoring campaign on Interstate 75 on September 14th at approximately 1216 hrs. This was in conjunction with members of the Florida Highway Patrol. Salazar was clocked traveling between 147 and 138 mph in his 2014 Infinity Q50, aggressively weaving in and out of normal operating traffic. This showed a clear, willful and intentional disregard for people and property to safely travel the Interstate.
Once the vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as being Salazar, probable cause existed to conduct a lawful search of the vehicle. As a result of that lawful search, 7 individual bags of Marijuana were found. One of those bags contained an estimated pound of Marijuana and another bag contained an estimated quarter pound of Marijuana. All totaled, 568 grams of Marijuana was seized.
Salazar was subsequently transported to the Charlotte County Jail and held for processing.
“My Deputies are dedicated to the safety of all of our citizens and visitors of this County. Aggressive driving will not be tolerated. In addition, if you are in possession of illegal and illicit drugs, you will be charged accordingly.“
Sheriff Bill Prummell
