CCSO Detectives have a Punta Gorda man in custody for the thefts of 6-kayaks and a canoe from the YMCA Center in Charlotte Harbor. Detectives investigating the incident say a patrol deputy notified them several people at Ponce DeLeon Park say they heard a man bragging about stealing from the YMCA. With statements from those witnesses detectives visited 22-year old Andrew Ahrens home where they found the canoe, which had been repainted. Ahrens is being held without bond on Grand Theft and Probation Violation. Detectives are looking for 20-year old Taylor Hendrix, who they alleged was with Ahrens around the time of the thefts.
