Michael Deitz is no longer a North Port Police officer. He resigned earlier this week. He was already on unpaid suspension after his arrest by Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies on a misdmeanor domestic battery charge. While off duty, Dietxz allegedly battered his then fiancee after an argument over her decision to end their relationship in a text message. The Herald-Tribune reports the woman contacted North Port PD to repoprt they’d been arguring for a while, but an internal investigation found Dietz called disptachers and tried to stop anyone from being sent to the scene. Dietz will be arraigned next month.
