Allegiant Airlines today announced the opening of a new base of operations at Punta Gorda Airport. The company says it will open the base with one MD-80 jet aircraft, beginning on June 27th. Allegiant plans to offer direct flights from Punta Gorda to Peoria, Illinois; Niagara Falls, New York; and Fort Wayne and South Bend, Indiana. The company says it’s offering special introductory flights to and from Punta Gorda. This will be the airline’s ninth base of operations and its fourth in Florida.
