The National Climate Prediction Center says this years’ hurricane season brings with it a 70% chance of up to 20 named storms, as many as 11 of them hurricanes. The Herald-Tribune reports NOAA’s prediction’s are above the seasonal average of 12 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes. They’re also warning the effects of even mild storms can create big problems, as this region saw last year from the major storm surge and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Debby.
