Forty-five applicants have said they’d like to be the nest Sarasota county Administrator. There is a good-size crop of local and area names in the running, as well as applicants from 20 states. A combination of the slow economy and selective criteria for the county’s CEO kept the applicant pool small, according to the consultant hired to help find the next county administrator. The Mercer Group will help narrow the list of applicants to 15 by next Wednesday, and on Nov. 8 commissioners plan to select three to five candidates to be considered through public meet and greets. The goal is to name the new administrator by mid-month.
