North Port police and Florida wildlife officials had to track down a sneaky snake off Sumter Boulevard yesterday. While initially feared to be poisonous, it turned out to be a five-foot red-tail boa, and while not a threat to humans, it is an invasive species that can damage a local ecosystem. Investigators believe it was a pet snake either lost or turned loose.
