Voter turnout could hit a new primary-year high in Sarasota County.

As of Monday, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner told the Herald-Tribune turnout stands at 18.1 percent in Sarasota County…and that’s just from early voting.

Four years ago, in the last midterm, turnout was only 21 percent…total.

Even during the 2016 primary, turnout barely reached 26 percent. Polls are open today from 7-7.
