The case of a 19-year-old Punta Gorda who went missing in 2001 got its first day in court today. Phillip Barr is accused of taking part in the murder of Tara Sidarovich, whose body was found among some trees near Burnt Store Road. NBC2 reports that prosecutors plan to call nearly 60 witnesses and present some 200 pieces of evidence. Defense attorneys say Barr is a scapegoat for detectives wanting to solve a cold case. David McMannis, the other man charged in the crime, is expected to go on trial early next year.
