Free tax aid is available at locations throughout Sarasota County for quick filing of federal individual income tax returns at AARP tax aid sites and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites, which are operated by the United Way Suncoast. The goal of the free tax aid programs is to help lower income tax payers get the refunds and tax credits they are entitled to – quickly and accurately, and without having to pay fees to paid tax preparers. AARP is operating 12 sites in Sarasota County; you can find one near you at aarp.org. United Way has five sites in Sarasota County; locations are available at myfreetaxes.com. No reservations are needed at any of the sites.
