The housing market locally is surpassing that of the rest of Florida and the nation, according to the latest data from CoreLogic. Both the number of closed sales as well as median home prices went up in Manatee and Sarasota Counties in January compared to the same time in 2017. In Sarasota-Manatee, January’s closed single-family home sales rose 10.9 percent in a year-over-year comparison and condo sales jumped 17.1 percent. The story is much different in Charlotte County, where January 2018 sales fell to the lowest monthly total in the past 12 months.
