Just one day after announcing he would not be running for a sixth term to the US House of Representatives, Tom Rooney abruptly canceled a scheduled visit to Nokomis last night. He had planned to meet with constituents at 6 o’clock, but just minutes before the event was to start, members of team canceled. Since last Wednesday’s school shooting, Rooney has been taking heat on social media for taking $2,000 in campaign donations from the NRA. His team gave no reason as to why the Nokomis event was cancelled at the last minute.
