A proposed fire fee in the city of Venice has residents confused and wondering exactly where the figures are coming from. The fire department is funded out of the city’s general fund, but the amount of money that is collected varies. The city is trying to do away with that and make a standard amount due by residents. Tier one is a certain amount if you own land. Tier two would cost someone $5 bucks for every $5,000 of home value. Non-profits would not be immune to the new proposal.
