More than 2,000 homes could potentially be built in Punta Gorda after a Naples company completed a $6.5M purchase this week. The subsidiary of Lely Development Corporation bought the Tucker’s Grade development site in Punta Gorda. Company president Joseph Boff told the Herald-Tribune they plan to redesign the site to build as many as 2,400 units and also add 50 acres of commercial use. The 563-acre property is at exit 158 at Interstate 75 and bounded by Tamiami Trail. Work is not expected to begin on the site until next year.
