Charlotte County lawmakers imposed a nine-month moratorium on marijuana dispensaries regardless if Amendment 2 – the statewide vote on expanding legal pot use – passes or not.
County officials say if Amendment 2 passes, they will need the time to set up things like zoning and business licensing before sellers can open shop.
The moratorium includes provisions for extending it if necessary or ending it earlier.
