A Sarasota County fire station has started operating today.
Station 14 on Tamiami Trail in Sarasota has held its grand opening.
A traditional “uncoupling of the hose” has marked the occasion.
The two-story fire station serves Vamo and Osprey.
The county calls it one of four new stations replacing outdated ones.
It has opened new fire stations at Twin Lakes and Nathan Benderson Park in the last six months.
Another new one opens next month at Bee Ridge.
