North Port High School has extra counselors this week following the death of a teacher Friday.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office believes Antoinette Gordon died at the hands of her estranged husband.
It continues investigating both their deaths as a murder suicide.
The office says the two met outside a McDonald’s on Tamiami Trail for a child exchange.
It says Antoinette Gordon died from apparent gunshot wounds, and Hugh Gordon died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
Witnesses say the shooting happened in front of the couple’s son.
Antoinette Gordon taught language arts and reading at the high school.
WINK-TV reports she had worked for the district since 2005.
