A Venice man missing for the past two weeks was found dead, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. 72-year-old Neil Smith was last seen Sept. 20. His body was found in a wooded area just west of the State College of Florida Venice campus, not far from where his car was recently located. A medical examination is pending, but police say that items found near the scene belonged to Smith.
