The Charlotte Stone Crabs minor league baseball team had an unusual guest at the ball field over the weekend: a 10-foot alligator. The gator was discovered lounging under the bench in the visiting team’s dugout before Friday night’s game. No one knows how it managed to get into the ballpark, to say nothing of the dugout itself, but stadium and county staff were able to coax the sleepy animal to a pond behind the stadium’s parking lot. No one was injured, and the game went on as scheduled.
