The tentative budget passed by North Port’s City Commission this week will give employees a 3% raise, the second straight year they’ve gotten one, and the budget calls for adding 18 new employees. The Herald-Tribune reports the tax rate will stay at 3.5974. The city’s finance director says they expect to get more revenue thanks to higher property values combined with new construction. No change is expected in the tax for solid waste service, but residents can expect higher fees for road and drainage and fire and rescue districts.
