Charlotte County officials were collecting today. They accepted $7-million for their share of the $18-billion deal announced last week between 5-Gulf Coast states and the federal government with BP for the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill. NBC2 reports the county got the money to conpensate for tourism losses. County officials say they’re not getting enough money, but they’re taking what they can get. The cash should be delivered in the next two to three months.
