The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s predicting a below average hurricane season this year. NOAA puts the odds at 70/20 in favor a below average season. The Herald-Tribune reports that’s due to the El Nino in the Pacific Ocean. That’s warn water in the Pacific. It creates a westerly wind flow that tends to disrupt tropical disturbacnes in the Atlanic. NOAA expects six to 11 named storms (tropical storms and hurricanes combined), three to six hurricanes and zero to two major hurricanes of Category 3 or stronger. There are 12 named storms in the average season, including four major storms, with two making landfall in the U.S.
