The man who blew the whistle on North Port Public Works Department personnel cheating on FEMA exams has been fired by the city. The Herald-Tribune reports Richard Tirado was canned for not giving his supervisor a doctor’s note after he called in sick. That followed a three day suspension for uysing profaniry in the workplace. Tirdao thinks the city’s just getting even for revealing the FEMA mess. A former city human resources official who was involved in several prior investigations of Tirdado, tells the paper city government’s dysfunctional, and adds Tirado gave personnel managers a reason to fire him, and they they ran with it.
