The free Hepatitis C Clinic in Charlotte County is struggling to stay open, and has asked the county for help. The operators of the center at the Virginia Anderson Volu8nteer Community Clinic are asking the county for $50,000. Dr. Mark Asperilla and Dr. David Klein tell NBC2 they started the clinic after they started treating people at their HIV clinic. They say about a third of those with AIDS also have Hep C. Nationwide about 4-million people have Hep C, and 350-have been diagnosed here. The doctors have asked for this support before and it’s been granted by the County Commission.
