Leaders in Venice next week dress in drag to benefit Venice’s Chalk Festival.

Mayor John Holic, Fins at Sharky’s owner Mike Pachota, and former Venice Gondolier editor Bob Vedder turn into queens on Wednesday night.

They do so for Blanche & Baby Jane Drag Queen Bingo. It happens at the Venice Community Center on Nokomis Avenue South.

Their transformation begins at 3 o’clock with hair and makeup at James Griffith Salon on Tamiami Trail South.

The queens arrive at the community center at 5 o’clock, wearing balloon dresses.

People can buy tickets for this at the Chalk Festival’s website or at the Venice Art Center down the street from the community center.
