North Port’s City Commission voted 4 to 1 today to buy Sarasota County’s county stake in Warm Mineral Springs. According to the Herald-Tribune, Commissioners want to move quickly to prevent the Springs from closing it’s doors at the end of August when the contract with National and State Park Concessions, the current short term operator, expires. The Commissions are also going to ask the county to grant it the sole right to extend that lease. It’s estimated the city will have to pay the county $2.75-million for its share, plus take on $2-million for water and sewer service, and building upgrades.
