The state’s going forward with plans to widen the last four-lane stretch of the highway to six lanes from North River Road south to the Charlotte County line should help ease traffic moving through North Port, which is now Sarasota County’s largest city. The Herald-Tribune reports I-75’s an important link for people who live in North Port and work in communities farther north, as well as a corridor for trucks, tourists and others traveling along the Southwest Florida coast.
