AAA urging Scott to veto speed limit increase

AAA wants the governor to veto the bill that would allow FDOT to post higher speed limits on many highways.

If the governor signs it, then Florida would join Maine as the only states east of the Mississippi allowing speeds over 70 miles per hour.

AAA says other states that increased the speed limits above 70 miles per hour saw an increase speed-related traffic deaths.

The NHTSA says 16 states allow speeds over 70.
