The governor today has named a new secretary for the state’s child welfare agency.
Mike Carroll takes over the Department of Children and Families next week.
Interim secretary Esther Jacobo took over the agency last July when David Wilkins suddenly resigned.
Carroll has worked as the regional managing director for the Suncoast region. He has spent over two decades with the department.
DCF has come under fire for the number of children who have died despite warnings to the agency.
