The Venice Fire Department’s rescue boat was launched last night around 9 to assist the United States Coast Guard in the search for a vessel in distress about 1 mile off the coast. A distress signal was sent from a 26-foot boat when it had motor failure and began taking on water. Venice firemedics helped remove four people from the boat just before it sank. There were no injuries.
