Englewood residents are getting ready for the biggest event their community’s ever hosted: the Charlotte Harbor Super Boat Grand Prix this weekend. There’s a parade of the racing boats through Punta Gorda tomorrow, there’s a party on Englewood Beach Saturday, and the races start Sunday at noon. Event organizers tell the Herald-Tribune they expected 40-to-80,000 people for the weekend, and there will be using shuttle buses to move them from parking lots in the Lemon Bay neighborhood to Englewood Beach. Some residenrs are worried that all those people and their cars will mean gridlock.
