As the $8.7 million River Road/U.S. 41 intersection improvement project taking place just north of North Port hits the one-third completion mark, Sarasota County officials say the project should be finished sometime this winter. They also say there could be a short overnight closure in a little more than two weeks so the work can get done. The Venice Gondolier reports the closure could be the night of Aug. 24-25. That would gives crews the opportunity to safely install a 245-foot truss that will be built across the intersection for stoplights.
